Do you know that around 20 million teenagers around the world are struggling to get rid of their acne? Yes, the acne menace haunts younger population at least once in their lifetime. Though hormones are said to be responsible for most cases, skin hygiene is also equally important to maintain a flawless skin. Mere washing face 3 times a day is an apt mechanism that halts its progress.

What is this highly talked about acne? Acne occurs due to the change in the skin structures that have a hair follicle embedded in them along with sebaceous glands. Acnes are not necessarily inflammations; they at times leave marks that we refer to as pimples, zits or spots. They start erupting during adolescence and ideally disappear by the early twenties. However, there is no guarantee that they will completely vanish by the twenties- acne can be found with elder people in the age groups of thirties and forties also.

The acne can be popular, macular or cystic at times. Depending upon the severity of acne, plan of treatment is sketched out. Many people try various treatment options without getting significant results. However, having patience and continuing one treatment till its full course is necessary for the proper treatment of acne. Even some home based treatments may help some people. Dandelion roots, Echinacea, lemon juice, etc are some of the home remedies for acne. However, it is better to take professional advice if the acne is severe enough.

In such cases, professional may advice you certain antibiotics to curb body bacteria that lead to acne. Also various lotions and creams containing benzoyl peroxide are in vogue. In some cases, the medical practitioner might suggest you to take up figuring out your hormonal imbalances and try neutralizing them. Everyone’s skin is different and so should be the treatment. Consult your doctor and do as per his advice and your skin type. But in most cases, preventing the oiliness of face prevents acne breakouts. Also drinking plenty of water and sleeping enough for eight hours in the night help get rid of acne.

Some researchers suggest that there is a positive relation between people suffering from acute acne problems and those taking partially skimmed milk. However, this is not proved and it is suggested that young adults suffering from acne should experiment with their diets and stay away from food that causes their inflammation to worsen. Consumption of seafood is generally discouraged if you are suffering from an acne problem.

This is because seafood contains iodine and iodine excites the existing acne and makes them worse. It has also been found that people suffering heavily from acne have lower amounts of vitamins A and E in their systems compared to the average acne free people. Change your lifestyle a bit; imbibe values of positive eating with lots of veggies and your skin will thank you for it!  But do not bother too much about acne; you will soon be free of them to have beautiful skin!
